This is a blog post from a six-year-old kindergartener named Chanel Chatman who is curious about the existence of God and Jesus, and attends a non-denominational church, and is a Christian:
I googled Bible experts and your name was among the first that showed up on my search, and I decided to write to you on this blog to ask a question. My mother has been bringing me to church ever since I was a baby, and I have a little understanding of what it is all about. I know that as Christians we are to love one another, and put others first, and follow the rules that God has set forth, and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. I know all that I have been taught thus far and how I feel about my religion, but I have a question, "Is God real"?

I can give you two sides to this question:
1. From a literary perspective I would say that God is a hero figure created for people to have something to put their trust and hope in. The Bible could easily have been made up. There are many authors who contribute to the Bible's make-up, and this is a strong reason that this book is unreliable. Many of the miraculous events that occur in this book are unbelievable and unlikely to really have happened. There were many who claimed to be the Messiah before, during, and after Jesus came onto the scene, and the Jewish people could have just picked one out of the batch in order to keep faith alive.
2. God could very well be real, but everyone's definition of reality is different. Each person decides what they think is real or fake. It is up to each individual to believe in unseen things and superstitions. I think that this question will generate many answers depending on who you ask, but in my opinion the idea of God is subjective and pulls different feelings, emotions, and beliefs from every person you meet.

So, God as an ideal, hero, or fictional character, is real. He is real in whatever form you or anyone else wants him to be.
